This is a book group with a difference! A hand stitching, sit and sew with a book discussion. Discussion led by our very own resident librarian Jane Smith of @janesquilts on Instagram. Yes! Jane is a librarian and also works with us at Berry Quilt & Co a couple of days a week- aren’t we lucky! In this group, you will receive the book choice or theme prompt a month in advance and have time to read up before the meet up. Stich a lot or chat a lot about books it’s up to you. This is not a tuition situation it is a book discussion group for those who want to sit and stitch at the same time.

Jane is an amazingly prolific and exacting quilter and has wide experience as a librarian leading themed and title oriented book groups at libraries in the northern beaches where she lived & worked for many years. Come for the book chat, come for the company or come for the stitching. This group is an opportunity for any or all three of the above as well as hanging out in our lovely classroom surrounded by inspiring quilts and fabrics.

Theme for December is Festivities

Jane says: “Our discussion can be about fiction, non-fiction, young adult – anything!! The theme can be something to do with the name of author, included in the title, included in the subject matter, the mood it conveys or simply on the cover!!

The group is about fun and the opportunity to chat with others about what you are reading or have read or to compile your own reading lists based on recommendations of others and above all sharing the love of two passions – reading and stitching.

How it will work:

The group will cost $20 per meeting and bookings help us with catering. Phone 4464 3387 to book in. Your $20 will include some snacks, tea and coffee or a glass of bubbles. Jane will lead a round table discussion and everyone will have a chance to chat about their take on the theme. Bring your sewing. You can hand stitch throughout.

The group will meet on the Second Wednesday of each month: 12th April, 10th May, 14th June, 12th July, 9th Aug, 13th Sept, 11th Oct, 8th Nov, 13th Dec. 6.30 to 8.30pm We may revisit the time in winter if the group prefers to meet earlier.
