Class & Workshop Bookings Terms & Conditions

When booking a one-off workshop or regular class with Berry Quilt & Co. please read the following terms and conditions carefully. We are sure you understand that these policies are to make sure that class tutors’ costs are covered and that no class places are wasted. Classes are not a profit making exercise for us. We seek to cover our costs to provide interesting and varied tutors for our clients and pay tutors a fee commensurate with their level experience and preparation efforts.

Online bookings

If you make any bookings and payments on our website, you will receive an email notification confirming your booking and unique ticket number. Your requirements will then be provided by email as soon as we have them from the tutors to distribute.

Once you have booked and paid for a class, unfortunately we can not provide any refunds for non-attendance. You are welcome, however to transfer your place to a friend or a waitlisted person (if possible) as long as we are notified in advance.

Special one-off workshops

The full class fee is required to confirm your booking online. If you book in person or over the phone, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your place. Full payment must be made a month before class to guarantee your place. Paid bookings OR unused deposits are NOT transferrable to another class date.

To help ensure classes are filled and run, students are encouraged to register early. Most classes have a minimum number of students required to go ahead.

Your requirements list will be provided upon full class payment when they are available from the tutor.

No refunds are made for non-attendance. You are welcome, however to transfer your place to a friend or a waitlisted person (if possible) as long as we are notified in advance.

Regular fortnightly evening classes

Classes are fortnightly in school term. There are five classes in each term. Each class is 2 hours long. 7.30pm – 9.30pm. The full term fee is $85 and class places are limited to 8.

To confirm your place in class you need to book and pay in advance. (This is to ensure that the tutor’s costs are covered regardless of attendance fluctuations). It is not possible to pay week by week and fees are non-refundable.

Makeup lessons are available on alternate weeks. Make up lessons are a courtesy and do not carry forward into another term. If you need to surrender your place in class to a waitlisted person because you will be away for a term you will have first option to book and pay for the following term.

Regular monthly classes

Our regular monthly classes are perfect to enrol in on an ongoing basis. Enrolled class members access a discounted class fee in exchange for an ongoing commitment.

Regular attendees enrolling for the full calendar year of monthly classes pay a discounted rate per class compared to casual attendees, usually a $10 reduction per class. This gives regular enrolled attendees a saving of approx $110 across a year of 11 classes. This saving is equal (or near to) the value of two full classes! It is possible to enrol for a part year.

Enrolling to qualify for the discounted rate, the following is required:

  • Completing our Enrolment Form with up-to-date details
  • An intention to attend the full year of classes (or three consecutive classes if the year is underway.)
  • ALL classes must be paid in full, at least one month in advance. We will invoice you by email monthly for ease of payment, unless you elect to pay in full for a longer period OR elect to complete our Credit Card Authority. (discussed below)
  • The first month’s payment will be for two months classes so you will begin the year in advance and secure your place in class. This is generally due in early January.

Payment methods

  • Direct deposit into to our bank account. Contact us for details.
  • Via PayPal: Just ask for a PayPal invoice.
  • Normal cash or eftpos in store.
  • Credit card over the phone.
  • Signing a credit card authority which allows us to automatically charge your credit card each month. Class members who elect this streamlined option for a full year’s classes will receive a $25 thank you gift voucher upon enrolment.
  • Selected classes can be paid for online via our website using a credit card. After booking, you will receive a booking confirmation email with your unique ticket number.

Policy for non-attendance

**Class fees are payable for enrolled attendees regardless of attendance**

If you are unable to attend for any reason, your fee is still due. It holds your place in class and ensures that the tutor’s ongoing teaching fee is covered.

Having said that: we won’t charge you for a missed class if we don’t need to. If we are able to cover the class costs by replacing you with a casual attendee or waitlisted client, we will not charge you. So in plain language: It could work out that you are able to miss a class or two and not have to pay to hold your place but this should not be expected.

The more notice you can give for your absence, the more opportunity we have to replace you but it is not guaranteed that we can.

Leaving the class

If attending the class no longer suits you for any reason we require two full months notice. Your fee is still payable in this notice period. This may be waived if we have an immediate replacement for you but again, this is not guaranteed.

Class cancellation

If the class is cancelled by the teacher or by Berry Quilt & Co. for whatever reason: you would not be expected to pay for that session. If we organise a replacement date that is not suitable to you, again you would not be expected to pay for that session.

Casual attendance to regular classes

We’d love you to book into a casual class with one of our regular monthly tutors. If you are interested please give us a call to discuss class availability. We do ask for payment in advance to hold your space in class as places in these regular classes are sought after. If you book in to a class and do not attend for whatever reason, your payment is non-refundable.

Casual sit & sew days

Casual bookings are online via the class calendar on the website to ensure classroom space is available. These days are popular and can over fill. Once booked, these tickets are non-refundable so check your availability carefully.

Refunds for bookings

We understand that plans do sometimes need to change but please keep in mind that for all classes, fees are NOT REFUNDABLE unless a class is cancelled by us.

Because of the long lead time for some classes and the fact that plans may change, you are able to withdraw from a class and receive a store credit if you notify us by email with at least FOUR WEEKS NOTICE.

If your plans change DURING the four weeks before class: Fees are NOT REFUNDABLE but may be transferred to a friend or another attendee. This is your responsibility to organise but we must be notified. See details of how this works below:

You may also check with the shop if there is a wait list for class. We do occasionally have a wait list which can help but is no guarantee of a replacement. See details of how this works below:

Transferring a class place

If your plans change and you know you will be unable to attend a class that you have paid for, we do allow you to transfer that place to a friend. In this case you will need to arrange your own reimbursement, if necessary, from that friend.

Please advise Berry Quilt & Co. right away of any transfers so that all class requirements and information can be passed on to the replacement attendee.

Class waiting lists

Always approach Berry Quilt & Co. if you cannot attend with as much notice as you can! Occasionally there is a waiting list and someone might be keen to step in for you.

Remember that even though we may fill your place in class with a wait-listed attendee, we DO NOT provide refunds for class fees. Instead we would issue you with a credit note to the value of your class fee paid.
