Come along and have a fun day learning amazing ‘fussy cutting’ techniques with Lorena Uriarte. Fussy cutting is the method of specially selecting parts of the fabric to cut in ways that give you beautiful or clever effects. 

Blissful Abandon is a quilt of Lorena’s, made using hexagons cleverly fussy cut into mesmerising patterns. The quilt featured in Flossie Teacakes Guide to English Paper Piecing book. This class is an opportunity to learn about the possibilities of different types of patterns to produce different effects. This class is an opportunity to learn about the possibilities of different types of patterns to produce different effects using tessellating 60 degree diamond and hexagon paper shapes. You’ll learn about the tools and equipment that will make the job easier and have a relaxed day exploring the quiet joy of making magic from fabric. 

Lorena is an award winning quilter and pattern designer known for her original ideas and clever techniques, she specialises in finding a number of ways to employ one technique and to push it as far as it can go, often employing fabric in clever, unexpected ways. In class, Lorena gives you tools to explore your own creativity. 

She teaches regularly in Sydney and has been invited to teach, interstate and internationally. Lorena is regularly selected to exhibit at QUILTCON, The Modern Quilt Guild show in the USA.
