This Slow Stitching kit contains everything you need to have a go a the popular Japanese Style Boro stitching. There is enough fabric, thread, needles and stabiliser in the kit to make an approximately 30 x 30cm square of boro style fabric. We have also included an instruction sheet to help you get started and give you some ides of what to do with the boro style fabric once you’re finished. If you haven’t tried this technique before don’t be worried! It is every forgiving. You can always give us a call if you get stuck.
Kit Contains: Approx 50 grams of mixed traditional Japanese fabric scraps, a 40cm (15 inch) square piece of weaveline fusible stabiliser, a bundle of Olympus Sashiko threads in mixed colours, one pack of Olympus Sashiko Needles and our specially prepared instruction leaflet. NOTE: All kits are unique, fabrics for those pictured but will always be a high quality assortment of many many different scraps.
The advantage of buying the kit is that you get much more of an assortment of different styles, colours and values of traditional Japanese fabrics than you would probably have at home in your stash and if you were to buy 30+ lots of 20cms or fat quarters and fat eighths here and there, it would end up VERY expensive and you would end up with way too much fabric just for trying out the Boro.
Use your finished piece of Boro fabric to make a placemat, pieced into a table runner, to incorporate into a bag or stitch on to the back panel of your denim jacket! The world in your oyster- so to speak.
Don’t forget you can choose click and collect at the check out to avoid paying shipping. You can collect in store or we can organise to bring it to your car if you like. We will phone or SMS you when it’s ready.
