The Jungle Bums pattern by Helen Draper has been a very popular pattern with new Grandmas. Finishing at 90cm x 90cm (36″x36″) it is the perfect size to be a bright and cheeky nursery wall hanging or could be a fabulous cot quilt. It could easily be extended with more blocks or wider sashing to be a single bed throw or lap size quilt for a child.
The animals are built up using fusible webbing (vleisofix) and stitched down with blanket/button hole stitch. It can be made entirely by hand or by machine. It comes together quickly and all the ladies who have made it have been thrilled with the result. Many ladies have come along to a class with teacher Helen Draper, who teaches with us twice a month, to get started. Although, this is not necessary because the kit includes a pattern with comprehensive instructions and a diagram showing you exactly which piece of fabric is for which part of the pattern. .
The kit also includes the background fabric, borders, peepers and all the colours for the applique of each animal. The kit does NOT contain the exact fabrics of the original quilt but has been chosen by designer Helen Draper to replicate the feel of the original quilt..
You are purchasing a kit that is similar but not exactly the same as the kit pictured. Fabrics come and go so rapidly from the store and we kit this pattern up so often that we can not always change the photograph here, but be assured that your kit has been chosen to replicate the bold colours and small tone on tone prints to achieve a very similar feel to the original quilt.
