About this Class:

This listing is for two special classes with Jennifer Corkish one month apart to begin and progress the Something about Japan Quilt. The first class is on 15th May and the second on 19th June. (Note: Now extended to a third date, Saturday 17th July. Yes it is showing sold out but we are taking waitlisted bookings. Please phone to enquire if you’re interested in coming along.)

This quilt is one of Jennifer’s teaing quilts that students can make (amongst other things) in Jennifer’s  regular First Saturday Club and Fourth Thursday ‘Stitch Therapy’ classes. In these two classes however Jennifer will be focussing exclusively on teaching the Japan in Berry Quilt.

The quilt can be made just as shown with scrappy indigos picking out the designs on top of soft and beautiful neutral Japanese yarn dyed fabrics. Jennifer will teach the appliqué as raw edge, fused and stitched down by machine or learn Jennifer’ s turned appliqué over papers method. Make the quilt this size or add extra motifs, or duplicate blocks to grow it in size. I can imagine it even incorporating ism elf your own stitched sashimi panels and blocks in the body of the quilt or as a border. Having such a skilled and flexible teacher at the helm you are able to spend the classes inventing your own customisations with her back up, experience and advice.

Have a look at the alternate colour way photographed below. Thus might give you some ideas of how it could be changed significantly by putting coloured motifs on an indigo background. OR see what Faye has already done by embellishing the motifs with stitch. Jennifer specialises in letting her students follow their instincts towards a really individual result.

About Jennifer:

Jennifer has been a teacher at Berry Quilt & Co. since we opened in 2016 and also taught for approximately six years at Berry Patchwork prior to that. Jennifer has built up a number of regular students who have been coming to her classes and making her quilts ever since she began teaching in Berry which is quite a recommendation! Jen is an experienced and encouraging teacher who over the years has helped many along their creative journey. Jen is such a valued member of the Berry Quilt & Co team and we are proud to say that she’s not currently teaching regularly at any other quilt store, so here in the Shoalhaven, we are very lucky to be benefiting from her experience, diverse creativity and interests! Please click through to her teacher profile to read more about Jennifer’s making and teaching experience.

You may book online for this class by clicking on add to cart below. You will automatically be enrolled for the two classes. It is not possible to take a single class. If class is showing sold-out please contact the store to be added the waitlist.
