Event Details

Join dressmaking addict Ali Burgess from 9am – 1pm three Sunday mornings each term to work on a dressmaking project with back up. Sewing, crochet and craft addict Ali has made so many of the newly released patterns from a variety of indie pattern designers over the last few years and will be able to help you get started and interpret the pattern instructions in a relaxed ‘sit & sew’ style environment. Work at your own pace on your own project or work through a pattern with others sharing your journey.

The first garment off the rack to work through together if you choose is the Wicksten Shift, an easy, throw-on dress which suits most shapes and can take you from work to the beach or summer through to winter. Once you have the top fit working, Ali can show you ‘hacks’ that make it more versatile.

This group will suit someone who has made a garment or two and would like to rediscover and refresh their skills by sewing in a group for inspiration, back up, tables to spread out on and dedicated ‘time-out’ to be creative and productive. We’d love the group to grow and evolve to help each other trouble shoot, work though projects and share successes.

The group isn’t suitable for tailoring, advanced pattern adjustment, unusual materials or techniques. It could suit absolute beginners but chat to us first about your experience, type of machine and the type of project you’d like to undertake.

Three Sundays per term. $150 a term.  Bookings and payment in advance required. Term fee applies regardless of the number of sessions you can attend. Classes run from 9am to 1pm so you still have the afternoon to get on with things.

Term One:     7th March &  28th March ($100)
Term Two:      2nd May, 30th May, 6th June
Term Three:   25th July, 22nd August, 19th Sept
Term Four:     17th Oct, 7th Nov, 28th Nov.
