About the Workshop:
We are lucky to have prize winning quilter RachelDaisy visiting Berry in May! Rachael has visited us before and her classes are usually a sell out so be quick!
We have made her signature ‘whizz-bang’ folded blocks in the past and now we are having a weekend of adventures with Ric-rac The fun never stops because, numbers permitting, we are going add on a one-day applique workshop where you could work on Rachael’s Bubbles or New Groove is in the Heart Quilt. Both of these quilts employ similar techniques and you may choose to have a go at either or both. Scroll down for pics.
The workshop is suitable for beginners but also wonderful for more experienced sewers who would like to try something different. Rachael’s Appliqué technique is not the most common one you’ll find but it is suitable for large pieces and quick construction. We added this workshop because we thought there would be loads of people who would jump at the chance of a one day with Rachaeldaisy if their weekend was full. Note: We will only go ahead with this class if we have enough booked in – so bring a friend!
About Rachaeldaisy:
Rachaeldaisy in person is a whirlwind of happiness and colour and her quilts are similar. She chooses incredibly saturated colours and celebrates flowers in all forms! She is a prolific maker who often pushes the boundaries of what makes a quilt. She is also a very patient and enbciraging teacher who knows how to help a room full of people at different levels explore their stash, develop their colour sense and have fun playing!

Whilst honouring the tradition of quilting she continues to find fresh ways and new techniques to interpret conventional designs. Her use of 3D elements such as folded and gathered fabric techniques, yoyo puffs, prairie points, wool felt, appliqued and piece denim create beautifully unique textured work.
Her fresh interpretation of the art of quilting has seen her quilts awarded many prizes including Best in Show at both the 2015 and 2016 Australian Modern Quilt Show, Best in Show & Best in NSW at the 2016 Sydney Quilt Show. Most Innovative at 2017 Dare to Differ Contemporary Textiles Exhibition, 2017 Best Use of Colour Sydney Quilt Show. In 2018 her work was shown on the catwalks of Paris in collaboration with dynamic duo Romance Was Born. Rachaeldaisy’s quilts have been exhibited in quilt shows and galleries and featured in many publications both nationally and internationally.”
