About this Class:
This listing is for two special classes with Jennifer Corkish one month apart to make a piece of boro stitched fabric to turn into a bag. Classes 18th September and 23rd October.
Jennifer teaches her technique for making the intricately layered and stitched textured fabric, inspired by centuries old Japanese Boro, in her regular First Saturday Club and Fourth Thursday ‘Stitch Therapy’ classes. Unblike her regular classes where all Jennifers designs may be taught concurrently, these two classes will focus exclusively on this one project. The first class will be all about Jen’s method for making the Japanese Boro fabric and the second class one month apart will be all about turning that fabric into a bag.
Your choices for the bag are pictured below: Choose the Origami Bag , make a simple tote or the Petronella Bag. You can also use the fabric to cover a Yazzi sewing organiser, these are great products and are easy to customise by stitching fabric to the outside. Scroll down to see Janet’s version.
This web listing takes bookings only for the two days together but if you’d like to come and just make boro on the first date please call us to organise, Likewise, call us if you already have some boro fabric or similar and would just like to book in for the second date to make or cover a bag, give us a call. (02) 4464 3387. Single classes are $80 pp
You are also welcome to come along to both dates and just sit and stitch, perhaps you’re interested in making enough boro for a quilt like Joanne’s pictured below. No bag making required if that doesn’t interest you. You could book in just for lots of stitchy inspiration and company!
Jennifer has been a teacher at Berry Quilt & Co. since we opened in 2016 and also taught for approximately six years at Berry Patchwork prior to that. Jennifer has built up a number of regular students who have been coming to her classes and making her quilts ever since she began teaching in Berry which is quite a recommendation! Jen is an experienced and encouraging teacher who over the years has helped many along their creative journey. Jen is such a valued member of the Berry Quilt & Co team and we are proud to say that she’s not currently teaching regularly at any other quilt store, so here in the Shoalhaven, we are very lucky to be benefiting from her experience, diverse creativity and interests! Please click through to her teacher profile to read more about Jennifer’s making and teaching experience.
